Terms & Refund Policy

These terms apply to every class, course, lesson and membership you buy from Melbourne Actors Lab ("LAB", "we", "us"), operated by The Kalos Group Pty Ltd ATF the Kalos Family Trust, ABN 49 328 502 975. By completing payment, you agree to these terms.
1. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. If we fail to provide a service, or there is a major failure, you are entitled to a remedy, including a refund where the law provides for one.
2. No change-of-mind refunds
We do not give refunds for change of mind. This includes if your schedule changes, you can no longer attend, you decide the class is not for you, or you stop attending part-way through. Places in our classes are limited, and once you pay, your place is held for you and not offered to others.
3. If LAB cancels or changes a session
If we cancel a class, course or lesson and cannot offer a replacement, you will receive a full refund for the part not delivered, or a credit if you prefer.
If we reschedule and you cannot attend the new time, you may choose a credit or a refund for the affected session(s).
4. Studio classes
- Payment secures your place for the block of weeks you have paid for.
- If you withdraw at least 7 days before the first class, we will issue a credit for the full amount.
- If you withdraw less than 7 days before the first class, or after classes have started, no refund or credit is given.
- Missed classes are not refunded or credited. Where space allows, we may offer a make-up class within the same block.
- If you pay in instalments, you are committing to the full course fee. Withdrawing does not cancel the remaining instalments.
5. Trial classes
Trial classes are non-refundable. You may move your trial to another date once, with at least 24 hours' notice.
6. Private lessons (in person or online)
- You may reschedule a lesson once, free of charge, with at least 24 hours' notice.
- Lessons cancelled with less notice, or missed, are forfeited and not refunded or credited.
- Prepaid lessons must be used within 12 months of purchase.
- If you join an online lesson more than 15 minutes late, the lesson still ends at its scheduled time.
7. Live online courses
- Places are limited and confirmed on payment. Where a course requires an application, you pay only after you are accepted.
- If you withdraw at least 7 days before the course starts, we will issue a credit for the full amount.
- No refunds or credits are given less than 7 days before the start, or once the course has started.
- Missed sessions are not refunded. You are responsible for checking session times in your own time zone.
8. Pre-recorded online courses
Pre-recorded courses give you immediate access to digital content, so they are not refundable once purchased. If a course is faulty, not as described, or you cannot access it because of a problem on our side that we cannot fix within a reasonable time, you will receive a refund. Your access lasts for as long as the course is offered.
9. Prepaid memberships
- Memberships are paid in advance and are not refundable for change of mind.
- Unused classes expire 12 months after purchase and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Memberships are personal and cannot be transferred without our written approval.
10. Course-specific terms
Some course pages state their own cancellation terms. Where they do, those terms apply to that course in place of the matching section above.
11. Credits
Credits are valid for 12 months from the date issued and can be used towards any LAB class, course or lesson. Credits have no cash value and are not refundable.
12. Illness and exceptional circumstances
If serious illness or an emergency stops you attending, contact us. We may offer a credit at our discretion, but we are not obliged to.
13. Conduct
LAB is a professional, respectful training space. We may remove a student whose behaviour is unsafe, abusive or seriously disruptive. No refund is given in that case.
14. Recordings and course materials
You may not record classes or share course materials without our written permission. Materials are for your personal training only.
15. Prices and payment
Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST. If you pay from overseas, our payment provider may show a converted amount; your bank may charge its own fees. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.
16. Disputes
If something has gone wrong, please contact us first. We will work with you to resolve it. If a payment is disputed with your bank, we will provide your acceptance of these terms and your booking and attendance records.
17. Under 18s
If a student is under 18, a parent or guardian must make the booking and agrees to these terms on the student's behalf.
18. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time. The version shown at the time you pay applies to that purchase. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
