Unlock your potential as an actor with our 12-week Introduction to Acting course. Guided by experienced instructors, you’ll explore essential techniques like relaxation, sensory exercises, character development, and scene work.

Course Overview

In this course you will get a great introduction and overview of the acting process. Week by week you will get a explore all of the skills and techniques that some of the world’s best actors use across the world.

Our teachers, all having years of experience working with Peter Kalos, will take you through all the elements that make up the Course. In each class you will be guided through Group Relaxation which helps you stay focused and calm your nerves when audition or on a set. Then Sensory Work which teaches you how to make things personal; and Private, and then Character Work and Monologue/Scene Work.

Over the 12 week course you’ll experience a taster of all of the elements of Sensory Work that usually take years to negotiate; giving you an expansive understand of the full sweep of experiences before diving deeper into the individual exercises. You will be taken through Coffee Cup, Bathroom, Fabric, Shower, Rain, Sun, Taste, Personal Object, Private Moment and Animal.

You will learn how to go about creating a character, developing in this class a character of your choice for you to go on developing for the rest of your career. Embedding the skill of character creation in your body.

You will begin with a monologue before being paired with another actor to work on a scene which you will develop over the 12 weeks of the course. Covering the fundamentals of understanding character in relation to the script, breaking down the script and how to find your own voice in the work.

In the last week we will host a Show night where we will put everything together into a monologue / scene so you experience how it all comes together.

You will come out of this course with an expansive understand of the work and a grounding to begin your acting journey.

What You Will Learn

  • Character & Monologue Work: Develop a character of your choice and bring it to life through monologue and scene work. These tools will serve you throughout your acting journey.
  • Script Analysis & Scene Study: Learn how to break down text, understand character dynamics, and find your voice in the work.
  • Final Showcase: In the final week, present your scene or monologue in a showcase night, bringing everything together in a supportive performance environment.
